BASIC ANIMAL HEALTH

We have helped hundreds of horses with Basic Animal Health products, primarily their gut health line. We strongly believe in gut support for the working, hauling, competing horse! BAH gut health line not only soothes and balances the PH in their actual stomach, but the encapsulated sodium bicarbonate makes it all the way to the hindgut creating a balanced, healthy gut resulting in a HAPPY horse! Anytime a horse is stressed they create extra acid, if not buffered, balanced or suppressed the acid will eventually disrupt your horse’s stomach lining, inflaming it, and rupturing it creating ulcers which are very painful for the horse. Once a horse gets ulcers you have a lot of clean-up work to do and your horse will likely be “higher maintenance” for its using life. The best scenario is to have your horse on a maintenance product like the pellet or liquid and then use any form of their gel prior to hauling, stalling out and competing, that way you will be preventing ulcers. By feeding or administering their gut health line you are not only buffering, the increased stomach acid that they may make, but are also maintaining a balanced front AND hind gut.  If you use omeprazole products you are suppressing the stomach acid all together which can hinder their digestion in the hind gut. This is not a long-time solution and you will still need some form of support to balance going from acid secretion to non, back to full on acid secretion.
