Lead Trainer, Clinician, Coach, Co-Owner and Ambassador
CARRIE HIRSHBERG
Carrie received the opportunity to start riding at the age of 7. Her and her sister wanted to keep access to horses and their parents said if you want it, then you have to work for it. Work for it they did! This hard work led to spending summers at the barn, learning everything meticulously from horse care to ranch management, all the while applying riding instruction to win championships.
She started out riding western and english pleasure where her instructor passed on the philosophy of Lynn Palm. Show jumping came into her life around the age of fourteen. She kept working hard, taking lessons, getting educated in any way shape or form. Carrie started jumping at a higher level which brought her to different barns to train at to meet her needs.
Hard work and dedication opened up many learning and riding opportunities that would have never presented themselves otherwise. She got to fine tune a string of Grand Prix jumping horses to help pay for college. As well as train and compete an OTTB and win the Children’s/Adult winter series and classic. For three years she had the opportunity to ride and compete a 1 D barrel horse winning a handful of events, winning rookie of the year and taking second in Youth at the NBHA state championships. All that meant working 8 horses a day, going to school full time and working if not always working side gigs to help fuel her to keep pursuing her dreams.
Mounted Shooting came into her life when she finished her masters and had a corporate job. In 2011 she took the first shot off the back of a horse and hit a balloon. The rest was history. Instead of being envious of not growing up in a horse or ranching family, Carrie is now grateful for her journey as she is now able to speak out all the knowledge that has been instilled into her through all the years of lessons and experience making horses in several different disciplines.
She now gets to pay forward what she is so passionate about, shaping mounted shooters into better riders making them better performers and counterparts for their equine partners. Having won a national cowgirl title and countless overall and showcase titles she feels blessed to have a platform to share her knowledge with others.
